FLOAT OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY. Redfield Brothers was the official publisher of the postcards and programs for the Hudson-Fulton Celebration in 1909. The event commemorated the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery of the Hudson River, and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s invention of the steamboat. The parade of floats took place on October 2, 1909. The Redfield Brothers were Tyler Redfield (1865–1922) and Judd Redfield (1867–1936).
STATUE OF LIBERTY VIEW NO. 2594. This picture postcard in color was posted from New York City in 1910 and sent to a 45-year-old laundress in Tompkins County, New York. It has a divided back. The art on the front of the card has signs of being hand-painted.
